Hester Street Open Source

For over 20 years, Hester Street worked to put decision-making power in the hands of low-income communities and communities of color across NYC through authentic, creative, and fun engagement processes. Although Hester Street sunsetted in 2024, its legacy continues, in the projects completed and in the staff and community-based leaders who bring their commitment to racial and economic justice to community development work across the country. With this website, we are proud to share the methodological tools used to inform Hester Street’s approach.
