From 2022-2023, Hester Street (HST) partnered with New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to lead a community engagement strategy that centered the priorities of Kingsbridge residents in efforts to revitalize the Kingsbridge Armory, a decommissioned armory in the Northwest Bronx. Over six months, our team collaborated with neighborhood leaders, community-based organizations, federal and state elected officials, and others to design and lead an extensive community engagement process culminating in the creation of Together for Kingsbridge – a community vision plan to inform the redevelopment process.
HST created several engagement activities designed to inspire creativity and vision among diverse stakeholders. In these tools, participants were invited to share their vision for the future of their neighborhood, and how a redeveloped armory could support those dreams.
